History of Aikido Shudokan Indonesia

Aikido Shudokan Indonesia was established in 2002 by Sensei Mark A. Hadiarja in Bandung , Indonesia . It is the first dojo of Yoshinkan Aikido to be established in Indonesia.

Sensei Hadiarja began studying Aikido under Sensei Joe Thambu in 1997 when he attended University in Melbourne , Australia . In 1999, Sensei Hadiarja was awarded his Shodan by Sensei Joe Thambu. Sensei Hadiarja also had the opportunity to study Balintawak Arnis (a Phillipino stick and knife fighting art), Chinese Kickboxing and Grappling.

Sensei Hadiarja, Chief Instructor of the first fully-fledged Yoshinkan Dojo in Indonesia , has been training for 10 years. He has had the opportunity to train under many great instructors – Sensei Thamby Rajah (the father of Yoshinkan Aikido in Malaysia), Kancho Kyoichi Inoue (the Grandmaster of Yoshinkan Aikido since 2002), Sensei Takeno (Chief Instructor of Yoshinkan Yamanashi Dojo and Soke Gozo Shioda's uchi deshi), Sensei Chida (Dojocho of Yoshinkan Hombu Dojo), Sensei Joe Thambu (Chief Instructor of Aikido Shudokan), - all world renowned Martial Artists.

Although Aikido Shudokan Indonesia only been established for 5 years, it is flourishing steadily. Currently we have a total of 200 students which varies from adults, teenagers, children, and also from military. Sensei Hadiarja also teaches at YONKAV (Batalyon Kavaleri) Indonesia, Saint Angela Junior High School ( Bandung ) and Singapore International School ( Bandung ). Sensei Hadiarja also was invited a few times as guess instructor to teach in various cities in Indonesia . He intends to spread the teaching of Yoshinkan Aikido and the discipline and focus of Budo in Indonesia.
